Nestled in the orange groves and sprawling oak trees north of Windermere, Florida, the homes in the lovely little family community of Gotha are convenient to several Central Florida freeways and great schools.  They are also touched by the fabulous lakes and golf courses that bring so many people to sunny western Orlando FL real estate.  Gotha, Florida, an unincorporated area, extends through two miles of prime real estate in West Orange County, Florida and also features several wonderful long-term Orlando home rentals.

The great location near the junction of the East-West Expressway and the Florida Turnpike—only 3 miles south of Ocoee FL real estate, 4 miles from Winter Garden homes, and 3 miles from Windermere Fl real estate, the 5,000 residents enjoy easy commutes to a variety of employment options and several major shopping districts.  Downtown Orlando is only 9 miles away.  The average household income in the community is about $64,000.

A variety of home styles ranging from vacation cottages to distinctive properties are available.  With subdivisions such as Saddlebrook and gated communities like Lake Fischer Estates overlooking a jet-ski lake, the community has a graceful feel.  Buyers can find a cozy home with a generous lot for under $200,000, but there are also multimillion-dollar homes to be found.  Just the same, affordable lakefront estates may run in the $700s, but there are homes backing to conservation areas for only $300,000.  It is not unusual to find beautiful secluded properties and homes with swimming pools just minutes away from shopping, dining, entertainment.

Founded in 1885 by Henry Hempel and named after his hometown in Germany, the community is now registered as a Historical Preservation District.  Residents and tourists alike frequent the Palm Cottage Gardens, the historic Zion Lutheran Church circa 1915, the Yellow Dog Eats Café, and the old Fishers Country Store.  A one-room schoolhouse also stands on the grounds of the community park but it is disguised as the Gotha Community Center, a hub for numerous outdoor activities in the park.  Other community events, monthly covered-dish dinners, and activities like the Dance of Life yoga classes are held there.

For the families, the sought-after Gotha School District operates Thornebrooke Elementary, Gotha Middle School (an “A” school) and highly regarded Olympia High School.  Recent successful and ongoing technological innovations are transforming the school district.  In addition, several private and parochial schools are located in the area. 

With Universal Orlando, Walt Disney World Resort, Busch Gardens, Disney World, and Islands of Adventure so close by, residents usually plan to host family reunions and visiting guests.  From sea to shining sea, some of them may also want to sunbathe and swim in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico during their vacations.  Where else can you experience so many other-worldly adventures?
